Are you passionate about reclaiming and growing your Indigenous language? The UnBQ MAP is a unique one-on-one immersion program designed to support nêhiyawêwin (Cree) and denésuline (Dene) language learners through real-life practice and meaningful connections with fluent speakers.
Starting in September 2025, this program pairs committed apprentices with fluent mentors in a hands-on, community-rooted approach to language revitalization.
Whether you’re a fluent speaker looking to share your gift or a learner ready to deepen your knowledge this is your opportunity to walk the path of language reclamation.
Who Can Apply?
- Apprentices: Adults 18+ from Saddle Lake, Goodfish Lake, Cold Lake, Heart Lake, Beaver Lake, Frog Lake, or Kehewin Nations
- Mentors: Fluent nêhiyawêwin or denésuline speakers, age 55+
- Commitment: 200 hours (approx. 8–10 hrs/week)
