Collaborative Process on Indian Registration
Hello,
We are pleased to announce that the survey for the Collaborative Process on Indian Registration, band membership and First Nation citizenship is now available on our website. The survey is part of the Department’s strategy to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to provide input into the Collaborative Process.
We invite individuals to provide their input on the three consultation streams:
- The removal of the 1951 cut-off from the Indian Act;
- Remaining inequities related to registration and membership under the Indian Act ; and
- First Nation exclusive responsibility for determining membership and citizenship (moving beyond the Indian Act).

Please feel free to forward this message to any Indigenous individual that may be interested. A limited number of printed copies will be made available upon request. However, in an effort to be more environmentally friendly, individuals are encouraged to complete the survey online, when possible. Please contact us if you want print versions of the survey.
Additionally, we invite you to write a written submission to our email aadnc.fncitizenship-citoyennetepn.aandc@canada.ca on the consultation streams.
The information gathered through the survey will be added to the input obtained from community sessions, regional events and the information collected by the Minister’s Special Representative to inform the preparation of the June 2019 report to Parliament.
