Wahpow Healing Lodge (WPHL) is accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker.
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for helping ensure the Lodge’s buildings, equipment, vehicles and facilities remain safe and in good working condition through routine inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
• Inspect and maintain buildings, equipment, vehicles, plumbing and HVAC systems
• Complete minor repairs and report larger maintenance concerns
• Ensure emergency exits, tools, equipment and facilities remain safe
• Maintain outdoor areas through lawn care, snow removal and garbage removal
• Maintain the cultural grounds and ensure wood and rocks are stocked
• Assist the Elder with Sweat Lodge ceremonies when required
• Maintain records, inventories and basic project budgets
• Coordinate specialized repairs and projects with contractors
• Follow health, safety, confidentiality and personal protective equipment requirements
Qualifications and Requirements
• Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred
• Building Operator Certificate or Journeyman trade experience is an asset
• A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
• Minimum of one year of maintenance experience
• Experience working with First Nations is an asset
• Valid Class 4 driver’s licence and driver’s abstract
• WHMIS, First Aid/CPR and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification
• Minimum of two years’ sobriety
• Annual Criminal Record and Child Welfare checks
